HOW TO CLEAN YOUR SCISSORS

Clean your scissors between every haircut.

  • Use a damp cloth, then dry thoroughly.
  • Use a soft cloth to wipe your scissors clean.

Oil  your scissors at the end of each day.

  • Use only the camellia oil supplied, not mineral or machine oil.
  • Open the scissors fully and place a small amount of oil on each blade at the balance face which is just above the centre screw.
  • Open and close scissors gently so the oil spreads over the balancing face.

Sharpening.

  • Scissors may require sharpening every 12-24 months, depending on use.
  • Use a qualified bladesmith who is trained to work on haircutting scissors.

Watch out for corrosion.

  • It is incorrectly believed that nothing can damage stainless steel blades.
  • Hair tints and perming chemicals can cause pitting on blades.

HOW TO TENSION YOUR SCISSORS

Hold scissors with the Blade pointing up by the thumb loop and lift finger loop into a horizontal position.
Let go of the finger loop. The blade should fall slightly, An angle of 10 to 30 degrees between the blades is ideal.
If the blade falls completely closed or less than 10 degrees, your tension is too loose.
If the blade doesn’t move at all or If the angle is more than 30 degrees, the tension is too tight.

You can adjust by using the tensioning screw take it one click at a time, and repeat the steps.
